Independent Medical Evidence for Veterans

Veteran Medical Evidence Services

ILY Medical Corps provides independent medical evaluations for Veterans seeking additional medical evidence related to a VA disability claim.

Services may include condition-specific Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) examinations, independent medical nexus opinions, and combined evaluations when clinically appropriate.

Each evaluation is individualized and based on the Veteran’s medical history, available records, examination findings, and applicable medical evidence. A favorable medical opinion, service connection, disability percentage, or VA benefits determination is never guaranteed.

Services & Pricing

Veteran DBQ Evaluation – Initial Screening

$ 0
A complimentary preliminary screening for Veterans interested in having an applicable public VA Disability Benefits Questionnaire completed.
The screening helps determine:
Which DBQ is being requested
Whether the requested DBQ falls within the clinician’s scope of practice
Whether an in-person or virtual examination is appropriate
What records or prior VA documentation may be needed
Whether any professional or conflict-of-interest issue prevents acceptance of the evaluation
There is no charge for the initial screening or preliminary review of submitted records.

Independent DBQ Examination & Completion

$ 350
A condition-specific medical evaluation for Veterans requesting completion of an applicable public VA Disability Benefits Questionnaire.
The fee includes:
Review of relevant submitted medical records
Review of available prior DBQs, C&P examinations, and VA documentation when applicable
Condition-specific history
Clinical examination
Assessment of current symptoms and functional limitations
Required examination findings and measurements when applicable
Completion and signature of one appropriate public DBQ
There is no separate basic medical-record review fee. Some DBQs require specialized examiner qualifications, diagnostic testing, or evaluation by another specialty. ILY Medical Corps will review the requested DBQ before accepting the examination and may refer the Veteran when appropriate.

Veteran Nexus Evaluation – Initial Consultation

$ 0
A complimentary preliminary consultation for Veterans interested in an Independent Medical Nexus Opinion.
The clinician reviews preliminary information regarding:
The condition being evaluated
Current diagnoses
Relevant military and medical history
The requested medical relationship
Current or previous VA decisions
Prior C&P examinations when applicable
Available supporting medical evidence
Whether the requested opinion falls within the clinician’s scope of practice
A consultation may not be necessary in every case. If the screening questionnaire and submitted documentation provide enough information to determine the appropriate next step, the Veteran may be contacted through the secure patient portal instead. Acceptance for evaluation does not mean that a favorable nexus relationship has been established.

Independent Medical Nexus Opinion

$ 500
An individualized independent medical evaluation and written medical opinion regarding whether a diagnosed condition may be medically related to military service and/or an established service-connected condition.
The professional fee includes:
Initial screening/consultation
Preliminary medical-record review
Review of relevant VA decisions and C&P examinations when available
Review of service treatment and private medical records when applicable
Clinical analysis of the requested medical relationship
Evaluation of direct, secondary, or aggravation relationships when appropriate
Review of applicable medical literature when indicated
Development of an evidence-based medical rationale
Preparation and signature of the completed Independent Medical Nexus Opinion
No separate initial consultation fee. No separate basic records-review fee.
The $500 fee reflects the clinician’s professional time, medical expertise, independent judgment, clinical analysis, documentation, and responsibility for the completed medical opinion.
Payment is for an independent professional medical evaluation and does not purchase or guarantee a favorable conclusion.

Combined DBQ Examination + Independent Medical Nexus Opinion

$ 650
For Veterans who require both a condition-specific DBQ examination and an independent medical nexus opinion for the same or closely related medical condition.
The combined evaluation includes:
Initial screening/consultation
Relevant medical-record review
Review of available VA decisions, C&P examinations, and prior DBQs
Condition-specific clinical examination
Completion of one applicable public DBQ
Clinical analysis of the requested nexus relationship
Medical literature review when indicated
Development of an evidence-based medical rationale
Preparation and signature of the Independent Medical Nexus Opinion
There is no separate charge for the initial screening, consultation, or basic medical-record review.

Additional Independent Medical Nexus Opinion

$ 200
when completed within the same accepted evaluation
This fee applies when a Veteran requires an additional medical nexus opinion during the same accepted evaluation and the additional medical question can be assessed using substantially the same clinical history, examination, and medical-record set.
The fee includes:
Additional clinical analysis
Development of a separate medical rationale
Applicable medical literature review when indicated
Preparation of an additional signed medical opinion
If the additional condition is unrelated, requires a substantially different medical-record review, a separate examination, or extensive additional research, the standard $500 Independent Medical Nexus Opinion fee may apply.
This service is not available for direct online booking and is added only after clinician review.
